We get caught up in the sounds around us without realizing it. People grow accustomed to their environments quickly. Humans are very adaptable creatures.

Contrast is insightful because it forces you to acknowledge that there are things beyond what is normally in your line of sight. Flowers look pretty because we often see many things that are not flowers. Innovation is impressive because it directly challenges the present and all of the convenient scaffolding, skyscrapers, gardens, and homes that we’ve built in it. The absence of something is just as important as its presence. Sometimes, absence is kind of like an eternal scream that never lets up, and its message is;

Look at who I am not.”

We sat on the benches and laid our heads back. Acres of farmland surrounding us, you could hear everything. There was directionality to every single piece of audio. This bird was chirping from the south east, this bird was chirping in the field further north. You could hear the direction that the breeze came from and how it bended in the air. The sounds of the tree leaves swaying in the distance, every single crackle and twitch.

It’s important that we feel at peace. It is nice to listen to nothing every now and then. Remind ourselves of how quiet the world can be. We ought to enjoy that.
